Piddington turns protest against asylum accommodation into ‘Battle for Britain’ anthem as village prepares for referendum

Piddington locals have released a music video in protest of plans to house migrants near their village | PIDDINGTON ROARS Piddington’s protest against plans to house 1,250 asylum seekers at a military base has resulted in the release of an anthem as the village prepares to hold its second independence referendum. The Oxfordshire village, which is home to just 314, held its first independence vote on July 4 in an attempt to prompt a response from the Labour Government. An overwhelming majority of residents – 98 per cent – voted in favour of leaving the United Kingdom. However, a second poll will now be held on September 15, with supporters of Piddington’s independence hoping Donald Trump will formally recognise the village’s vote. The anthem, dubbed “Battle for Britain”, was created by one of the village’s supporters on social media.
