Cardinal Robert Sarah has denied a social media post which attributed criticism of blasphemous performances held in Parisian churches on 6–7 June to him. During the Nuit Blanche 2026 in Paris churches, there was, among other scandals, a human-like figure simulating masturbation. A widely shared online post featured a picture of Cardinal Sarah and quoted him as saying that a church is “not a concert hall or entertainment venue, but a place of worship reserved for God.” Speaking by phone to TribuneChrétienne.com on June 9, Cardinal Sarah said that he is currently preaching a retreat for priests and that he had not commented on 'Nuit Blanche'.
