Portuguese missionary priest Fr. João Silveira is bringing the traditional Latin Mass to some of the world’s most unexpected places - even into seminaries. Fr. Silveira travels the world to celebrate the Mass. He gave a glimpse into his travels during his address at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 4. He belongs to the Missionaries of the Holy Cross, based in Puma, Tanzania. Belize Fr Silveira’s most extensive mission was in Belize. At two Catholic schools, administrators asked him to celebrate the Latin Mass. At Bishop Martin’s College, approximately 350 students attended, roughly half of them Protestants. At Muffles College High School, Silveira celebrated before some 750 students, again roughly half Catholic and half Protestant. Nearly 300 received Communion.
